Silhouettes
Aquilo (Island)
The release of the tracks Calling Me and Sorry whetted the appetite nicely for Aquilo. They seemed to be walking an interesting line between Sigur Ros and James Blake, and their debut album opens strongly with the dream-pop of Silhouettes, Blindside and Human. Strangely, it is when they up the tempo on tracks such as Never Hurt Again and Complication that they sound unsure of themselves. Sorry rescues the last third of the album from being totally forgettable, but the omission of Calling Me is inexplicable.
