McDonagh to be honoured with Galway function

NEXT Friday night, as Frank Burke hopes to become the first Galway man elected GAA President since the late Joe McDonagh, NUI Galway will honour the largerthan-life former President at a function in the city. It will coincide with the university hosting of the Fitzgibbon Cup and they hope to have as many of McDonagh’s former team-mates and opponents from his UCG days present on the night. The function to honour McDonagh’s memory takes place at the Westwood Hotel, Galway this Friday and former colleagues and rivals who wish to attend can get details from Mártan Ó Ciardha on 0872423600 IT’S a massive day for Gleneigh-Glencar, the Rock, St Colmcille’s and Westport as all four clubs converge on Croke Park for the All-Ireland junior and intermedia­te club football finals. With talent such as Darran O’Sullivan, Lee Keegan and Graham Reilly on show, it should be an entertaini­ng afternoon’s football. And both finals will be streamed live on the AIB website.
