BE BRAVE, NOT FOOLHARDY

-

Almost one in 12 Irish homeowners would tackle a burglar, according to AA Ireland.

Of almost 7,000 respondents to an AA Home Insurance survey, 8% said their first action would be to try to subdue the intruder until gardaí arrived.

Just 1.9% of women would be willing to get involved, compared to 13.3% of men.

Conor Faughnan of the AA said: ‘People get justifiably angry and scared. But it’s a bad idea. Garda advice is that you should secure yourself as best you can and call for help.’
