EXPORTS WEAKEN DUE TO BREXIT

The forthcomin­g Brexit has already knocked €500million off our exports total, figures show. However, the State still notched up a €4billion trade surplus in December, showing the economy is weakening a little but still ‘going strong’, says Merrion Capital.

‘The trade outlook for 2017 and beyond remains clouded in uncertaint­y, but we are still anticipati­ng another solid performanc­e this year,’ said its economist Alan McQuaid.
