But Kenny still has records to break!
Poor old Enda – he wants to stay just a little bit longer. The problem is that the ‘little bit’ remains undefined. Perhaps Enda has a ‘to do’ list somewhere. On that list is a series of goals that must be accomplished: become the longest-serving Fine Gael taoiseach; be the first Mayo man to present shamrock to Donald Trump; be the first Mayo taoiseach to welcome home a Mayo Rose of Tralee; be the first longest-serving Mayo Fine Gael taoiseach to negotiate Brexit.
But there might be more… He may want to be the first longest-serving Mayo Fine Gael taoiseach to welcome home a Mayo Mr Universe to Castlebar.
Perhaps the lure of being first longestserving Mayo Fine Gael taoiseach to celebrate 100 years of independence may be too much for him. By then, young Coveney and Varadkar will have lost the stomach for the fight.
I predict he will break all Mayo Fine Gael taoiseach records. He could well be around for the 100th anniversary of Dana’s Eurovision win in 2070!
