Jack, by Declan Hassett, a play marking the centenary of the birth of former taoiseach Jack Lynch (Garvan McGrath) will run at The Everyman, Cork, from March 8-18.

The Abbey follows Enda Walsh’s Arlington with a revival of Ballyturk (March 3-11). Stars Mikel Murfi, Tadhg Murphy and Olwen Fouéré.

The Gate is running a three-week festival, starting next Tuesday, of works by Harold Pinter (The Dumb

Waiter and One

For The Road), Samuel Beckett (First Love and Eh Joe) and Brian Friel (The

Yalta Game and Afterplay), Tuesday to Sunday each week (excluding Sunday 12 and St Patrick’s Day). There will be two plays each evening, at 7pm and 9pm, and just one on Tuesdays, at 7pm.

On the two Sundays, plays will be at 3pm and 6pm, with poetry and prose readings at 8pm.

There’s an impressive cast line-up for the plays and readings, including Michael Gambon, Owen Roe, Penelope Wilton, Ralph Fiennes, Charles Dance, Derbhle Crotty and Barry McGovern. All details at gatetheatr­e.ie.
