A telling ovation

-

THE spontaneous standing ovation for amateur historian Catherine Corless, whose diligent detective work brought the Tuam Babies horror to the public domain, after her appearance on Friday’s Late Late Show, shows there is a real hunger in Ireland to right the wrongs of our past.

It serves as a warning to the Church, too. It might be easy for the religious to dismiss the Taoiseach’s statement on Tuam this week, but the people will not be brushed away quite so lightly.

In an Ireland where Catherine Corless is a heroine, the Church must be made to realise that change is long overdue.
