RUTH COPPINGER
of the Anti-Austerity Alliance proposed at last week’s business committee that a State reception should be held for the traveller community. She recommended that the reception or gala should be held at the Mansion House in Dublin. Fine Gael’s Jim Daly was adamant that they should not undersell the event. He proposed Áras an Úachtaráin as the venue. The vote was unanimous and now it is expected that the Dáil will support the proposal. Michael D Higgins is sure to accept the proposal after a political lifetime campaigning for the disenfranchised.
