Tipp footballers the poor relation
NO county team must feel as unloved as the Tipperary footballers. After illuminating last year’s Championship on their way to an All-Ireland semi-final, little more than 700 spectators turned up for their opening League match against Antrim in Thurles. And their county board opted to postpone the encounter with Longford, to save the sod at Semple Stadium for Tipperary’s hurling match with Clare, although the surface in Thurles looked in fine nick last Sunday afternoon. A small bit of respect wouldn’t go a-miss.
