The greatest love story... 29 years later

- By Jim Gallagher Daniel & Majella’s B&B Road Trip is on RTÉ One on Tuesday at 8.30pm

A COUPLE who first met and fell in love in the 1980s have told how they reignited their spark 29 years later.

In this week’s episode of Daniel & Majella’s B&B Road Trip, the celebrity couple stayed in the Wexford home of Moira Fowler, 56, and Michael Cullinan, 61.

Majella was so impressed by their love story that she told Daniel ‘it’s definitely more romantic than our story’.

After decades apart, Moira and Michael – who run Anam Cara Manor in Carrigabruce, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford – only rekindled their romance in recent years. They had fallen in love while working at Dublin airport but Moira ‘got tired of waiting for him’ and she moved to the US and made a new life for herself.

Her husband died in 2009 and, unknown to her, Michael had begun thinking of his long-lost love at the same time.

He began ringing every woman with her name in the phone book and eventually managed to track Moira down. ‘We had not spoken to each other in 29 years,’ said Moira, who admitted the old spark was still there.

‘I thought he was kind of cute still. You can’t keep two things apart which are meant to be together, like magnets.’
