seems moves are afoot again to look at the structure of the Hurling League, amidst talk of expanding the six team Division 1A to the old eight team format. Cutting counties like Offaly, Laois and Antrim further adrift only smacks of elitism. The tight, fivematch format would work perfectly in tandem with a group format to the Championsh­ip – outlined in these pages previously – that would give the counties the high profile money-spinning home games they crave. So don’t break the League model when the answer lies with Championsh­ip reform.
