Craig Finn is best known as singer with alt-rockers The Hold Steady. However his solo output is rightly appreciated. He brings a literary nous to his work and has a voice that is part-Springsteen, partCostello. Songs such as Jester And June may remind you of Boz Scaggs. He weaves words in a way that isn’t showy – just serving the musical novellas he pens. He doesn’t forget to sell songs such as Ninety Bucks and Rescue Blues with killer choruses. Highly recommended.
