Media disgrace

The disgraceful stampede of the Irish media who were being allowed into the Oval Office for the St Patrick’s meeting between the Taoiseach and the US President was the height of ill manners.

The other members of the world press gathered in the White House must have been startled by the antics of this selfcentered group. To compound their bad manners, some of those reporters, who were attempting to upstage each other for a scoop, began shouting biased and ignorant questions at the two leaders. For sure, those of the scuffling Irish media didn’t do any favours for the cause of the thousands and thousands of undocumented Irish people in the US, who have been depending on Enda Kenny to support their quest for legality – certainly not in the eyes of the watching US establishment, who might have seen those unseemly antics on TV.
