Farrell in talks for remake of Dumbo
COLIN Farrell’s career revival looks set to continue with the Dubliner in talks to star in a live action version of Dumbo. Edward Scissorhands director Tim Burton will helm the remake of the classic Disney cartoon. The 1941 animated film told the story of a baby elephant with oversized ears who develops the ability to fly. Eva Green, who played a Bond girl in Casino Royale, and L.A. Confidential star Danny DeVito have both signed up for the film.
It is the latest of Disney’s cartoons to be remade as a liveaction film with the studio currently enjoying huge success with Beauty And The Beast, which has taken €500m since its release worldwide last week.
Farrell, 40, has a been on a roll of late and received rave reviews for last year’s film, The Lobster.
He followed that with a part in the blockbuster Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them from Harry Potter author JK Rowling, which made more than €750m.
Later this year he’ll be seen in the remake of Clint Eastwood’s dark western The Beguiled.
