A case of Flanagan’s ball?
THE career of former Fine Gael TD Terence Flanagan has taken a few wrong turns of late. He was forced to leave Fine Gael over the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill in 2013. Then he stood in the 2016 general election for Renua and lost his seat.
With Enda Kenny’s departure from office imminent (reportedly), the word from Dublin Bay North is that Terence is to apply for readmission to Fine Gael.
After all, unlike Dessie O’Malley – who, in 1985, abstained from voting on a bill to liberalise contraceptives instead of opposing it as instructed by Charles Haughey – he was not expelled for ‘conduct unbecoming’.
