It’s Mane against boys for Liverpool’s quick-fire opener

-

SADIO MANE’S speed has left plenty of defenders in his wake and it happened again yesterday as the Senegal flier opened the scoring at Anfield.

Mane started the move on the right flank by nipping the ball past Idrissa Gueye’s forlorn lunge. He then played a one-two with Lucas Leiva before beating Tom Davies to the ball, leaving a second Everton player on his backside.

Mane’s route to goal was not obvious at that stage, though he was helped by Roberto Firmino’s well-timed dart into the box, a run which took two defenders out of the game.

Mane took full advantage, racing into the box before sliding a left-foot shot through Matthew Pennington’s legs and beyond Joel Robles.
