Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye, about the Easter Rising centenary commemorations, written by Jim Nolan, runs at The Everyman, Cork, from April 6 to 8. It features an Irish midlands newspaper taken over by a media conglomerate in which the staff have to adjust to changes, and some unexpected 1916 revelations cause problems for the editor, local politicians and business.
The superb Pat Kinevane trilogy of Silent, Forgotten, and Underneath runs at The Peacock, Dublin, until April 15. All three are worth seeing as examples of one-man theatre at its best. Kinevane is a wonderfully physical performer, funny, poignant and always entertaining. See the Abbey website.
