Gooch is irreplaceable

-

WE know that we will never see the likes of Colm Cooper again. The modern game of Gaelic football is slowly outlawing true genius because of its growing dependency on jam-packed defences and the ball being worked inch by inch, and foot by foot, into scoring zones.

There’ll never be room for a man to be so incredibly talented in finding room and using that room in a miraculous manner, that he’ll end up being known not as Colm, but as ‘The Gooch.’

With individualism being rooted out of the game, we might never see another known by an endearing nickname.

We have a lot to thank Colm Cooper for, and unfortunately we may be thanking him for a long, long time.
