FG rises seven points to overtake FF as Enda’s high appeal may embolden him
FINE Gael has had a stunning reversal of fortune in the latest opinion poll. A surge of seven points to 29% has seen them overtake Fianna Fáil, which remains at 28%.
The increase comes amid a decrease in support for Sinn Féin, down five points to 18%; Labour, down one to 5%; and their Government partners the Independent Alliance, also down one to 5%.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin remains the most popular party leader, with a 49% approval rating, but Enda Kenny’s eight-point rise to 35% approval may embolden the embattled Taoiseach. The Greens remain at 2% while People Before Profit also remain at 2%. The Social Democrats climb a point to 2% while all other Independents are up two to 10%. The Sunday Times Behaviour and Attitudes poll was conducted between March 30 and April 11 last.
