Go-ahead for Limerick’s inflatable Moe’s

- By Gerry Hand

D’OH! It’s such a simple idea even Homer Simpson could have thought of it.

Lisa McMahon Winters from Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, who runs The Inflatable Pub company, has just completed a deal with TV studio 20th Century Fox that will allow her to sell an inflatable version of Moe’s Tavern from The Simpsons. And Simpsons fans will be pleased to hear that the bar may even stock Homer’s favourite beer, Duff.

The product will be launched next month, and will feature commercial and domestic versions. An inflatable pub is like a marquee but is inflatable like a bouncing castle. They are often used at weddings, public and corporate events.

Ms McMahon Winters said: ‘It has taken about two years to get this across the line. We had to negotiate for a licence with Fox, and then we had to get the whole interior designed exactly like the bar in the show.’

Ms McMahon Winters’s company designs and creates inflatable replicas of people’s favourite watering holes.

Emigrants, for example, can order a replica of their local pub at home.
