I’M STILL RUNNING ROUND AFTER GOOCH

I WRITE all these nice things about Gooch last week and this is what I get as a reward. We played Dr Crokes last weekend and with a battery of photographers there to capture my discomfort, take a guess who I end up marking? I did alright, too, until he drifted out to do his quarterback thing and they ghosted clear of us in the second half. Anyway, it finished well and in style. The two of us ended up getting a helicopter ride out of Killarney straight after the game to attend our friend Mick Culhane’s 50th birthday in Ventry. One minute I am chasing Gooch’s tail in Killarney and the next I am in Páidí’s bar buying him a pint. Which proves what I always maintained after some tormenting training games in Killarney; Gooch is far faster than he looks.
