wonderful short story Love of the World, about a garda who played for Mayo, is a superb rendering of the fleeting fame of a county footballer and one of the few contributi­ons made by our literary giants to the canon of GAA literature. As part of RTE and Creative Ireland’s Cruinniú na Cásca tomorrow, a programme of free cultural events around the country, a panel will discuss why the GAA has yet to produce a great work of literature.
