Woman at centre of garda sex video says she didn’t know he was a family man

- By Debbie McCann

THE woman at the centre of sex videos featuring a garda and members of the Defence Forces has pledged to stop posting videos.

Carla Smith – who also goes by the name Gabberlover – told the Irish Mail on Sunday yesterday she had reached the ‘end of her tether’, and confirmed she had no more videos to post on x-rated sites.

Asked if there were any more videos, she said: ‘No, absolutely not. There is nothing coming, alright? There is nothing, I’m leaving it. That is it, it’s done. It’s finished. Alright?’

The news will come as a relief to the garda at the centre of the sex video, who is stationed in the south of the country. This week, the disgraced officer admitted that it was him in the video and told his superiors he feared that there were more videos to come.

Thirty-five-year-old Carla, who is originally from England but lives in Dunmanway, West Cork, told the MoS: ‘I want to apologise to that man’s partner, I did not know when I posted the video that he was a family man, I thought he was single. I wouldn’t have done it if I had.

‘I want to sincerely apologise to his partner and his children.’

She added that the people of Dunmanway had been ‘very good’ to her. ‘They have looked after me. They have called and texted me to ask if I was okay.

‘I didn’t think it was going to go like this. It was a bit of craic. It’s gone crazy. I’m living in hotels.’

People in Dunmanway and the surrounding area have told the MoS that they were ‘not surprised’ by Carla’s participation in the video. One man said: ‘She was very provocative. She could turn the charm on men. No, I am not the least bit surprised by any of it.’

A woman said she was ‘concerned’ by the videos and the ‘bad’ publicity for the pretty Cork town.

‘There are teenagers listening to all this carry-on. It’s seedy, it is not right.’

Animal lover Carla has been living in south west Cork for the last number of years and has posted pictures of her cats, dogs and horses on different social media accounts. She has also posted pictures of two children and a partner on her Instagram page.

This week, Carla said she was regretting the publicity and wanted journalists to ‘move on to another story’, adding: ‘We are on the brink of World War III and all you can think about is me. Seriously, come on. It is a porno.’ Earlier in the week, Carla, who also posted a clip of herself having sex with two members of the Defence Forces, urged the people of Ireland to lighten up.

The horse-loving mother shot to fame after posting a seedy clip on an adult website of her having sex with the garda on a patrol car.

Carla told PJ Coogan on Cork’s 96FM on Friday: ‘I am not making any money from the internet. I do not feel exploited. I am comfortable with what I’m doing.’

Earlier in the week, she told another newspaper that she had not checked with those involved in the videos before uploading them.

‘I didn’t run it past them, no. No, they went crazy at me.

‘These guys filmed it. They had their jollies showing it off around the barracks. I want to get my kicks too. They asked me to take it down but I won’t be taking it down.’

Carla said she did not expect the videos to get so much attention. With the reaction to the initial Defence Forces video, she was ‘feeling cheeky’.

‘I messaged the garda and asked him if he wanted to make a video and he was well game.

‘We came to an understanding that his face would not be shown and he would not be identifiable in any way.’

The garda involved has since been identified. He is in a relationship with children and working in the south of Ireland.

An investigation has been launched by his superiors.
