A First Daughter sent to mingle with the leaders and ministers

-

Ivanka Trump has been invited to the G20 women’s summit in Berlin this week.

In case you haven’t heard of it, the W20 is a dialogue process aimed at reducing gender inequality in G20 economies.

The uS First Daughter will take her place with rather more accomplished women who may or may not have rich fathers, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel (who’s also G20 president this year), Canadian foreign minister Chrystia Freeland, and Christine lagarde, head of the IMF.

If you haven’t heard of the W20, you will acknowledge that inviting Ivanka will certainly help get the word out about it.

But you must admit, her presence is not likely to dispel the impression that, while men are in one room deciding the fate of the world, women are herded into another to talk about clothing lines.
