Two 2015 EPs and a 2016 single had marked Dublin quintet Fiction Peaks as ones to watch. The multi-textured soundscapes and world weary vocals of Joey Doyle complement each other perfectly. At times you are reminded of Richard Hawley. However tracks such as Ether, Before The End and Shimmer are not designed for passive listening. The pounding guitar riff that drives the latter ensures your attention for a start. Listening to this on a drizzly, drab day, they made the world look beautiful.
