Spurs on the move in right direction

-

JUST a couple of weeks and two games left at White Hart Lane, so what better way for Mauricio Pochettino to sign off at the old ground than prove their dominance over Arsenal after all these years?

There are five league games to go, including today’s North London derby and the final home fixture against Manchester United and then they will move out for good.

Spurs have already scored 100 goals and secured their highest points total ever in the Premier League.

Pochettino has said they are stronger mentally and a better side than last season, but he also knows there is so much more to come from a team that has challenged Chelsea for the title. They are a joy to watch and what I love about their manager is that he is prepared to try different things if games are not going his way, as he demonstrated against Crystal Palace during the week.

Sam Allardyce’s side stifled them and tried to hit them on the counter-attack, so Pochettino changed from three to four at the back before half-time, brought on Heung-Min Son and Moussa Sissoko, shifting Christian Erikssen into a deeper role where he could dictate the play and get the ball moving quickly.

Tottenham can only improve, but there will be challenges. Not least whether Pochettino and Daniel Levy can keep the team together, and add better players.

History suggests Spurs are a selling club and they will have to manage their budgets with the new stadium being built and all the additional pressures that brings. That could disrupt their bid to stay ahead of Arsenal before it has even started.
