Evergreen Paul is hale and Hearty
THERE was a time when Crossmaglen Rangers would expect to end up in Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day as they set out on their journey for the season. Those days have passed for the south Armagh club, but as they begin another year by hosting Pearse Óg for a league game, they still have a tangible link to their greatest days. Former county goalkeeper Paul Hearty returns for his 23rd season as a senior footballer. With 20 Armagh senior championships, 11 Ulster titles and five All-Ireland medals collected with his club (as well as four Ulster titles with Armagh), Hearty’s desire to keep playing is commendable. And a rarity in the modern game.
