Incubus have always had more than a hint of funk about their muscular form of American indie. So given the fact that dance producer Skrillex, ‘re-produced’ their eighth album, after they were disappointed with the first version, it is a surprise that it is such a straight-ahead rock record. No Fun is a big beefy opener. Nimble B ***** d is also a flyer. Love In A Time Of Surveillance rocks hard with a sly message reflecting current climes and times. Perhaps the most surprisingly enjoyable album I heard this week.
