Started: December 2011 KEN RUANE’S main role is to advise the Garda Commission­er and Garda management on a range of issues to include data protection, civil litigation, corporate law, employment law, human rights law, European law, and criminal matters. After qualifying as a solicitor in 1998 he worked in the office of the chief state solicitor from 1999 to 2011. From 2007 to 2012 he was a member of the Law Society of Ireland’s litigation committee. At the request of the US State Department he attended a leadership programme in Washington in April 2012.
