What exactly is on a solar farm?

SOLAR farms usually comprise:

Solar array: 2.5m high flat panels laid out in lines across a field that can produce a glare if you are on a height;

Inverters: take the energy from the panels and converts it to an alternatin­g current;

Transforme­rs: convert the energy to a useable voltage;

Substation: connection point to the ESB/EirGrid;

Grid connection: pylon or undergroun­d cable that connects to the national grid.
