Liverpool don’t deserve chokers tag, Klopp rages

- By Derek Hunter

JURGEN KLOPP reckons it is unfair to call Liverpool chokers against the Premier League’s lesser lights.

His side will seal a Champions League spot if they win their last three ties, starting at home to Southampton today.

On the face of it, they appear wellplaced to do that. Claude Puel’s side have nothing to play for, next up are middling West Ham and finally doomed Middlesbrough.

Yet while Liverpool are unbeaten against the top eight, and have a win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge under their belts, they have also been beaten by Swansea, Hull, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Leicester and Bournemouth.

‘Against Crystal Palace, if you create a chance but don’t score, it’s like the end of the world, “Oh my God! Again like this!”,’ Klopp said.

‘No team has this image like we have: That we win against the top teams but we lose against the lesser sides.

‘And yet we have 69 points and we are in the top four. So where did the other teams lose their points? Which way is better?

‘OK, Chelsea and Tottenham are first but all the other teams have issues too,’ he added.
