Far too much ado
An Taoiseach got excited when the EU agreed that, in the event of the six counties voting for reunification, the six counties would be re-admitted to the EU.
If we achieve reunification, what will have changed vis à vis the EU? The Republic of Ireland joined the EU as 26 counties and the Republic of Ireland (albeit with 32 counties) will continue to be a member. Legally, no change.
Mr Farage, who has made a career out of British nationalism, objects to a restatement of a position which Britain has agreed to in an internationally recognised agreement – that the six counties can become part of the Republic by agreement of the majority of the citizens of the six counties. Apparently he does not see the contradiction in his nationalism being lauded while he condemns the nationalistic ambitions of non-Britons.
Both Enda Kenny and Farage have made much ado about nothing to keep their names in the public eye.
