Odds on favourite

I am writing to say how much I enjoy the book reviews in your paper. They stand head and shoulders over similar pages in other popular Sunday papers.

I thought Jim White’s review of Centaur, the biography of national hunt jockey Declan Murphy was outstanding. It will certainly be the prompt for me to buy and read the account of his triumph over adversity and return to race riding after such a crashing fall.

The photo of him winning a chase at Chepstow little more than a year after his injury sums up the courage and endurance of national-hunt jockeys.
