Which way will Cliff edge?

-

KERRY football fans watched David Clifford strike 2-8 for the county in a one-sided victory over Cork in the middle of this week. The Kingdom are marching towards an historic fourth All-Ireland minor football title in a row.

But will those same fans ever get to see this young man in the famous green and gold at senior level – and fighting the good fight to lift Sam Maguire?

It remains to be seen, as Clifford, the same as every top talent who pops his head up in any county, is already on the wanted list of Australian Rules scouts. And these scouts are men who normally get what they want.

More than likely David Clifford will be made an offer to restart his life Down Under, and he will find it so hard to refuse. But if the GAA had serious counter packages on offer to our most talented footballers maybe these same scouts might have to work that little bit harder when they breeze into Ireland.
