Conlan calls for fight that will test him BOXING

MICHAEL CONLAN wants a proper test when he fights on the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn undercard in Brisbane on July 2, after making pretty short work of Alfredo Chanez in his second professional bout in Chicago on Friday night.

From almost the opening bell, it was clear that his Mexican opponent had no place in the ring with Conlan and spent most of the bout – stopped in the third round – engaging in spoiling tactics, even claiming low blows in an effort to get Conlan disqualified.

The straight-talking Belfast native insists that his next opponent must present a challenge. ‘I want a better opponent,’ Conlan said. ‘I want one that is going to challenge me and that is a real threat. I think with a better opponent, I’m going to show what I am made of and what I can do.

‘It was my first time against a guy that was completely negative and trying to survive from the start and complaining about nothing at times but it’s part of the pro game.’
