How string of our revelations led to damning audit report
An audit of St John of God by the HSE this week refers to the Irish Mail on Sunday eight times, with the very first line saying that it was revelations in this newspaper that led to the audit being established. Starting in June of last year, the MoS carried shocking news of top-up payments and secret payments to senior managers at the charity. This went on even as the order slashed services for young adults with intellectual disabilities, claiming financial difficulties. And this news emerged after all charities funded by the HSE were called upon to reveal salary details during 2013 following the scandal of payments at the Central Remedial Clinic in Dublin and other charities.
