Darrel is Imelda’s go-to guy despite marriage split

IMELDA MAY, right, has revealed that she still relies on her ex-husband, guitarist Darrel Higham.

Whenever the singer needs a babysitter for their four-year-old daughter Violet, he’s her go-to guy.

‘Darrel’s still there to support me, he said he would always look after Violet if I need to go somewhere for work,’ the Liberties singer told the UK Independent in a recent interview.

The Dubliner was speaking about her latest album, Life. Love. Flesh. Blood, and how it’s not based on the break-up of her 13-year marriage. It’s unknown what caused the split – and Imelda still refuses to be drawn on the issue – but at least the pair are still on cordial terms for the sake of little Violet.

In fact, so good is their friendship that she will be appearing on her ex’s upcoming album next month. Talking about her own album which was released in April, she said: ‘It’s not a break-up album.

‘People just presume that because I broke up with my husband. But I met someone, so it’s about falling in love after a big split, being scared and feeling lust again.

‘And then I got my heart broken by that person and so I wrote about that too.’
