Wood one in front in Nordea Masters

-

GOLF:

England’s Chris Wood will take a narrow lead into the final day of the Nordea Masters after reaping the benefit of some hard work in Malmo.

Wood carded a third round of 68 at Barseback Golf and Country Club to finish nine under, a shot ahead of Italy’s Renato Paratore and France’s Benjamin Hebert.

Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen is a shot further back after a lost ball on the 18th led to a doublebogey six, with halfway leader Jamie Donaldson of Wales struggling to a 75 to fall three off the pace.

MOTOR CYCLING:

Northern Ireland’s Lee Johnston has minor back and face injuries after crashing at the Isle of Man TT. The Fermanagh man was kept in hospital overnight after the Padgett’s 600cc Honda crash in practice near Greeba Castle.

BOXING:

David Haye has split from his trainer Shane McGuigan. The 36year-old fighter (right), currently recovering from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in his bout against Tony Bellew in March, announced the separation on his official Facebook page, writing: ‘Shane and I have come to the mutual decision that when I am ready to go back into full training, we will no longer be working together as boxer and coach. We remain good friends.’

SHOWJUMPING:

Ireland finished third in the four-star Nations Cup at Langley, British Colombia in Canada early yesterday, behind the US and Canada. The highlight was a double clear round from Derry’s Daniel Coyle with Cita – the only double clear of the competition.
