Woman charged with Gareth Hutch murder amid fears feud may reignite

- By Craig Hughes

A WOMAN has been charged with the murder of Gareth Hutch, who was shot last year as part of the ongoing gangland feud in Dublin.

Regina Keogh, 39, appeared before Dublin District Court yesterday charged with killing Gareth Hutch – nephew of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch – outside his home at Avondale House flats on North Cumberland Street in Dublin’s north inner city on May 24 last year.

Ms Keogh told the court: ‘I didn’t do it. I didn’t murder anybody.’ Her solicitor requested that she be seen by a doctor as she is on a lot of medication.

Ms Keogh is due to appear in court again on June 16.

Gareth Hutch was the seventh person to die as part of the Hutch-Kinahan feud.

He was a cousin of the late Gary Hutch, who was gunned down in Spain in September 2015, and a nephew of murdered taxi driver Eddie Hutch, who was gunned down in February last year.

All deaths are linked to the ongoing feud between the warring Kinahan and Hutch crime gangs.

Gary Hutch – another nephew of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch – was the first person to be killed sparking the gangland feud in September 2015.

Michael Keogh was shot dead in an underground car park less than two weeks ago – becoming the 12th person to die in the feud.

His murder was the first in almost six months as Gardaí stepped up their efforts to stop the bloodshed. However, it is feared his death could spark a new wave of murders.
