story goes that there was a bit of panic in the brains trust behind the Dublin football team on Tuesday evening when it was revealed that Diarmuid Connolly was facing a 12-week suspension. Dean Rock had been scheduled for a pre-arranged Aer Lingus promotional event in Parnell Park the following day and there was an effort to pull the Ballymun Kickhams man from the event. But, as Aer Lingus is one of the more significant of Dublin’s dozen commercial partners, Rock did face the media on Wednesday. And effortlessly kicked for touch every time Connolly’s name cropped up.
