Lewis Hamilton (right) beat championship rival Sebastian Vettel to secure pole position for this afternoon’s Canadian Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s stunning time, three tenths better than Vettel and the fastest ever seen at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, also moved the triple world champion level on 65 career pole positions with his hero Ayrton Senna. Valtteri Bottas qualified in third.
