Result is all that counts for Rory

-

RORY GALLAGHER insists Donegal’s focus today is on playing ‘winning football’. This is the sixth meeting in seven years between Donegal and Tyrone with the trend being for tactical, and cautious affairs. Donegal have averaged 0-13 in those games while Tyrone are running at 0-11.

That was the final score-line in last year’s Ulster final – although with the teams flipped – which came in for scathing criticism for the lack of ambition shown by both teams.

Gallagher believes his team – which has played a lot more on the front foot this year – will play with only the result in mind today.

‘There have never been big leads created in these games for it to open up. Who knows this could be the day it could happen.

‘Look, I am sitting here coming up to this game and it does not cost me one thought.

‘We would like to go out and impose ourselves and play a winning style of football whatever that has to be.

‘If that means we have to chase Tyrone and it ends up a shoot-out, then it’s a shoot-out.

‘If it means the game is tight and we have to defend an awful lot, then we will have to adapt to that as well.’
