Retired? Why not be a charity boss
It is very sad that so many charities have been called into disrepute because a handful of people in charge have abused their positions of trust.
Given these failures, would it not be better if retired professionals – who possess a wealth of knowledge and experience – were tasked with managing these organisations instead? And I’m sure they would give their time for a fraction of the cost. Retired people have a lot to offer and would gladly fulfil these roles with the utmost professionalism – as they would have done in their previous workplaces. Also, charities should publish annual accounts, as transparency and honesty are vital for anyone who has ever fundraised.
