Warren’s horse turns out to be a series loser, too

-

WARREN GATLAND missed out on a second midweek victory when his horse Azaboy finished third at Wednesday’s Pearl Series race at Pukekohe Park. The Lions coach co-owns the two-year-old with father in law Terry Shaw. Gatland was in Auckland so was unable to watch in person as his horse finished ahead of Anahera Lass, who is co-owned by 55-cap All Blacks legend Sir Colin Meads.

LIONS media officer Dave Barton was fined at this week’s Lions court session for his garish new haircut. Nicknamed ‘Trig’ after Trigger from Only Fools and Horses, Barton was forced to wear nothing but his tracksuit for three days. Defence coach Andy Farrell joked: ‘It’s like he’s part of the strength and conditioning team with a tracksuit on. He doesn’t do us any good!’
