Weather Diaries Ride (Wichita) HHHHH

As one of the most venerated bands of the early-Nineties shoegaze movement, Ride’s return to live action in 2014 was welcome. Kudos for making a new album rather than resting on their laurels – but that is where the credit ends. Weather Diaries is suggestive of a dull, grooveless Stone Roses (All I Want, for example) or a less agreeable version of their earliest selves (White Sands, Home Is A Feeling and the title track). Probably best to continue with cash-in tours if this the best they can do.
