Everton go big on stadium
LEAKED plans for Everton’s new stadium suggest it will be have a 60,000 capacity — 10,000 higher than previously thought — making it bigger than Anfield.
Images of the Bramley Moore Dock project from architects BuroHappold Engineering appeared on a fans forum. Everton will seek planning permission next year and, if the capacity is to be 60,000, only Manchester United’s Old Trafford will be significantly bigger, with Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and Tottenham’s new ground about the same size. Liverpool’s Anfield home holds 54,000 fans.
Moving from Goodison Park’s 40,000 capacity could see Everton’s £18 million annual matchday revenue jump to more than £50 m.
The ambitious Merseyside club have already spent almost £100 m improving the squad this summer.
