manager Turlough O’Brien missed the point when lecturing Westmeath on the errors of their way against Dublin in that semi-final massacre.
‘What we learned against Dublin was that if you set up your structure right and stick by it, you can be competitive,’ said O’Brien (left).
But Westmeath got their structure right when losing by an aggregate of 28 points the previous two years — not exactly competitive.
Teams must find their own level rather than searching for structures that only offer damage limitation as a prize, which is a rather strange kind of glory.
