More venue trouble ahead?
THE Central Competitions Control Committee’s decision to bring Dublin to Thurles may not be the only venue controversy the CCCC will face this summer. It was expected an All-Ireland quarter-final double-header will open the new Paírc Uí Chaoimh this day fortnight. However, if Kieran Kingston’s men are involved, that game may be played as a standalone tie due to ticket demand. Cork’s quarter-final would likely be played on the Sunday with the other staged the day before, probably involving Cork footballers’ fourth-round qualifier — despite those games previously being played at a neutral venue. Now, just imagine the outrage if their opponents are told they have to travel south to face them...
