More venue trouble ahead?

THE Central Competitio­ns Control Committee’s decision to bring Dublin to Thurles may not be the only venue controvers­y the CCCC will face this summer. It was expected an All-Ireland quarter-final double-header will open the new Paírc Uí Chaoimh this day fortnight. However, if Kieran Kingston’s men are involved, that game may be played as a standalone tie due to ticket demand. Cork’s quarter-final would likely be played on the Sunday with the other staged the day before, probably involving Cork footballer­s’ fourth-round qualifier — despite those games previously being played at a neutral venue. Now, just imagine the outrage if their opponents are told they have to travel south to face them...
