Triumphant return

U2 returned in triumph to their native city last night to play in full the Joshua Tree album that turned them into global superstars back in 1987.

Thirty years later, they sounded as fresh and relevant as ever, proving to all of a certain vintage that, to quote the title of a later work by the band, there really is no line on the horizon.
