CHARLIE REDMOND

-

was on the warpath this week over Jim McGuinness’ recent criticism of Jim Gavin for the Dublin manager’s defence of Diarmuid Connolly.

‘That man (McGuinness) brought Gaelic games to depths that it has never seen previously,’ said Remond.

‘That man’s standing with me? He has none. Jim Gavin has stood up for his player in a way that McGuinness never did or never could,’ said the 1995 All-Ireland winner. That’s not strictly true now, is it? Does Charlie not recall McGuinness demanding action be taken on behalf of Paddy McBrearty after he was bitten in a League match back in 2013.

For the life of us we can’t remember who Donegal played that day, but given Charlie’s recall of events which brought ‘Gaelic games to depths that it has never seen previously’ perhaps he would be so good as to fill us in.
